Pastor Sam Whack, Jr.

The Reverend Dr. Sam Whack, Jr. is the son of the late Evangelist Ola and the late Reverend S. W. Whack, Sr. of Manning, SC. He was born, reared and attended the public schools of Clarendon County; graduating from Manning High School in June 1990.

Dr. Whack is married to the former Cynthia E. Elmore since February 1995.  They have three daughters; Samantha, Chelsea and Zaria.

Dr. Whack received his B.S. Degree in Elementary Education from South Carolina State University in Orangeburg, SC (December 1996), M.ED in Interdisciplinary Educational Studies from Cambridge College, Cambridge, MA (February 2000), Ed.S. Degree in School Administration from Cambridge College, Cambridge, MA (August 2001), and his Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from Cambridge College, Cambridge, MA (June 2008). Dr. Whack is currently enrolled at the Andersonville Theological Seminary in Camilla, GA pursuing a Master of Divinity (M.Div.).  Additionally, Dr. Whack is a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.

Dr. Whack is the Senior Pastor of the Historic Pee Dee Union Baptist Church in Cheraw, SC since December 29, 2016. He is the former Senior Pastor of Chaney Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Timmonsville, SC.  He faithfully served at Chaney Grove Missionary Baptist Church from November 2003 until October 2015. Additionally, he also served as pastor of New Light Missionary Baptist Church, Davis Station, SC from 1998 until 2003. He has over 17 years of pastoral experience and has been in ministry since August 1995 when he received his initial call by God.

Dr. Whack is former Vice Moderator of South Jordan Union of Churches (2002-2003) and former Dean-Elect of the Pee Dee District Sunday School Department. He is most recently held the position as the Secretary of the Pee Dee Baptist Association, an Executive Board Member of the Pee Dee Baptist Association, and he is a current member of the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc., and the Baptist E&M Convention of South Carolina. 

Dr. Whack is employed by Marion County School District where he currently serves as principal of Palmetto Middle School. Dr. Whack has 20 years of experience as an educator in the South Carolina Public Schools.

His personal objective is to do the total will of God through Jesus Christ through ministry and missions, which acts a catalyst to produce God’s miracles in our lives. His favorite scripture is Psalm 27:14, “Wait on the Lord, and be of good courage, he will strengthen your heart. Wait, I say, on the Lord.”
